Who we are

This website, roshanraah.us, is run by Roshan Raah, a free education initiative that gives teachers in Pakistan ready-to-print lessons for Kindergarten to Grade 3. In this policy, “we” means Roshan Raah.

If you have a question about your information, write to [email protected].

What we collect

  • When a school asks to join: the school’s name and city, the grades it teaches, the contact person’s name, email address and phone number, any note you add, and the language you used.
  • When you offer to volunteer: your name, email address, your phone number if you give it, your city, the ways you can help and anything you write to us.
  • When you create an account: your name, email address and password, and the school you belong to. We keep your password only in a scrambled form that cannot be turned back into the password.
  • While you are signed in: the internet address and browser your sign-in came from, stored with your session so we can protect your account.
  • To stop abuse: your internet address, kept for a few minutes to limit how many forms and sign-in attempts can be sent.
  • If you allow analytics cookies: how you use our public pages, such as which pages you open, collected by Google Analytics. The signed-in area is never measured.
  • If a page fails: an error report with the page address (without anything after a question mark), your browser type and technical details, sent to Sentry. Error reports never include your name, email address or account.

Students do not have accounts, and we do not ask for any information about children.

How we use it

  • To review school requests and set up approved schools.
  • To contact volunteers about how they can help.
  • To run accounts: sign-in, confirming email addresses, resetting passwords, and letting head teachers manage their teachers.
  • To tell our team about new school requests and volunteer offers.
  • To keep the website secure and stop misuse.
  • To understand which public pages are useful, only if you allow analytics cookies.
  • To find and fix errors.

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Who else handles it

We use a small number of service providers. Each one handles information only to provide its service to us.

  • Railway hosts the website and its database, on servers in Singapore.
  • Cloudflare stores the teaching files and runs the human check on our forms.
  • Resend sends our emails.
  • Sentry receives error reports.
  • Google Analytics receives visit information, only if you allow analytics cookies.

These providers may store or process information outside Pakistan, including in Singapore, the United States and the European Union.

Inside Roshan Raah, only team members whose role needs it can see school requests, volunteer offers or people’s details. A head teacher can see the names and email addresses of the teachers at their school.

We may also share information when the law requires it.

How long we keep it

  • School requests and volunteer offers: for as long as we need them to work with the school or volunteer, or until you ask us to delete them.
  • Accounts: for as long as the account exists. When someone is removed from a school or the team, the account is kept and marked as removed so it can be restored. Ask us if you want it deleted.
  • Sign-in sessions: until you sign out, or seven days after your last sign-in.
  • Internet addresses used to stop abuse: a few minutes.
  • Analytics information: for the period set in our Google Analytics account, at most 14 months.
  • Error reports: for a limited period, after which Sentry deletes them.

Your choices

  • You can ask to see the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by writing to [email protected]. We reply within 30 days.
  • You can change your password at any time from your account.
  • You can accept or decline analytics cookies, and change your mind later, with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every public page.

How we protect it

Every page is sent over an encrypted connection. Passwords are stored scrambled. Teaching files are downloaded through links that stop working after one minute. Each team member can see only what their role needs, and the website checks that every change comes from roshanraah.us itself.

Children

This website is for teachers, schools and volunteers, not for children. Children meet Roshan Raah through printed sheets and their teacher. If you think a child has sent us personal information, write to us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change matters to account holders, we will also tell them by email or on the website.
